Internal Combustion Engine Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Internal Combustion Engine - Assignment Example Hence the internal combustion engine is the core component of any aircraft or car. The two-stroke and four-stroke engine are the most popular types of the internal combustion engine. It would be more feasible to first discuss the working of a four-stroke engine and then the working of a two-stroke engine, followed by its advantages and disadvantages. The cylinder is the core of the engine. The piston is a cylindrical piece of metal that moves up and down within the cylinder. There may be more than one cylinder present in different alignments based on the nature of the vehicle. The spark plug supplies the spark at regular intervals which is required to ignite the air/fuel mixture present inside the cylinder [2]. Two valves are present. The inlet valve allows the flow of air and fuel into the cylinder. The outlet valve allows the exhaust to flow out of the cylinder. The most important point is that both the valves must be closed during the process of compression and combustion so that the cylindrical chamber remains sealed [3]. The connecting rod is a piece of metal that connects the piston and crankshaft. Both the ends of the connecting rod can rotate so that its angle can be adjusted according to the motion of the piston and crankshaft. The up and down motion of the piston is converted into circular motion with the help of the crankshaft. The crankshaft is surrounded by a sump and engine oil gets collected in the sump. The four strokes include intake stroke, compression stroke, combustion stroke, and exhaust stroke [4]. Initially, the piston is at the top of the combustion chamber. First, the intake valve opens and this allows the piston to move down the cylindrical chamber. The descending motion of the piston allows the engine to take fuel (gasoline) and air inside the cylinder and the cylinder is gets filled with air and fuel. Air serves as an oxidizer for combustion. These events constitute the intake stroke.

Perception of nuclear power associated risks and communication Dissertation

Perception of nuclear power associated risks and communication stratergy - Dissertation Example The current research focuses on public perceptions of nuclear power both within the UK and abroad, namely the pattern of their formation and evolution over time, considering ways of approach to the general public, which would allow of better acceptance of this energy source; with the overall aim to suggest starting points for further discussion about how the public perceptions of nuclear power could be improved, which would eventually result in adequate communication strategy being produced. The research meets its objectives through an extensive study of relevant literature, including newspaper articles, books and book chapters, online publications, study reports and case studies, governmental reports and regulatory organisations’ reviews, which contain various statistical data, including such as views on nuclear power electricity generation and development of new nuclear plants; information on nuclear accidents occurrence and impact, global energy demand and supply, alternati ve energy sources (fossil fuel and renewables) in regard to climate change and their economic accessibility and competitiveness, etc. The research also includes a case study based on a survey, which was being conducted within a 100-strong sample of respondents in the UK via Survey Monkey on the Internet. Finally, the research has produced a number of key findings and drawn certain conclusions and recommendations. Facilities Maintenance & Operation Cost Optimization for Commercial Research Paper

Facilities Maintenance & Operation Cost Optimization for Commercial Buildings (this study will be applied for National Commercial Bank Buildings) - Research Paper Example The operational phase of the commercial buildings has proved to be longer compared to the construction and design phase of the project. Such a longer operational phase of the buildings makes it much cost intensive, this gives rise to evolution of high performance buildings so as to meet the sustainability goals, and energy efficiency. Facility maintenance covers all aspects of the proper operations of such commercial buildings in order to create a safe, optimal, and cost affective environment for the employees. The major divisions within the facility maintenance are operations, contracting, and maintenance, custodial, commissioning, and landscaping. The operation cost seems to be an ever increasing factor because of such maintenance facility. This research paper deals with the challenges that come in proper facility maintenance of such commercial National Bank buildings. The paper encloses a literature review on the mentioned topic and even some outline questions that are commonly as ked by the audience. The main goal of this research paper is to analyze the ways in which proper facility maintenance can be conducted in such commercial buildings with a total optimization of the operation cost. The paper deals with the various aspects of proper equipment maintenance and operation system so that it meets the goals of the facility maintenance team. The maintenance of the building equipments such as heating air conditioning, lighting etc and the hospitality for the employees incurs considerable amount of operating cost that can be only optimized through high performance building operations. Hypothesis for a research paper is set of propositions that are constructed as an explanation for some phenomena. It is rather a provisional conjecture in order to guide the investigation for a particular topic. Hypothesis is often termed a mere guess or assumption. The title for the research study is to determine

Sports Hunting is inhuman Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Sports Hunting is inhuman - Essay Example t is often done as a sport and too many, sport hunting is an acceptable pastime, despite the glaring immorality that it represents in that human take the lives of living creatures for the sake of entertainment. Bearing in mind that modern humans consider themselves civilized because of their â€Å"humanness† among other things, sport hunting is the epitome of inhumanity and reflects badly on the civilization of humankind. Sport hunting does not only strip animals of their right to leave free in the wild but also contributes to the depletion of some of the already endangered species. Wild animals like elephants and tigers have a right to live out their natural lifespan no matter how long or short they are so when hunters kill these animals they reduce their lifespan considerably (Ford). This is immoral because humans strive to ensure that their lives  are  as long as possible; taking care of their health and having hospitals and other health care institutions to promote longevity. Considering that, humans have a right to live out their natural life, they should not engage in reducing the lifespan of other creature just so they may experience a rush of adrenaline to collect a few game trophies (Simmons 4). In the same way, it is not permissible to kill, and skin fellow humans for sports or use them for experimental purposes such as medical research, one should not be allowed to treat the animals in a manner, which they know they would never want to be treated, or treat other human beings. It is also worth noting that in sports, hunting does not always die, as result an animal may be hit by a hunter’s bullet and this might remain in its body. With no way of getting it out, the animal will likely live the rest of life maimed or in pain until it dies of from injury or inability to feed acquire food due to the same injury. For example, wolf hunting in North America often involves the use of traps,  these can hold the animal in agony for hours and even day before the
